Cisnadioara - 12 km from Sibiu
The oldest Romanesque church in Transilvania was built around 1200, it´s oval fortifications in the 13th century. A characteristic of the fortifications are the openings at its base, serving probably for hurling down rocks on the besiegers. Legend has it that no young man could marry until he had carried some heavy rocks up the steep track; some of them can still be seen within the citadel.
Sibiel - 22 km from Sibiu
First mentioned in written sources in 1353, Sibiel has a lovely Icon museum, housing over 700 icons painted on glass or on wood, as well as a collection of pottery, woven textiles and peasant furniture. The fabulous landscape, which invites to enjoyable walks or longer hikes.
